Monica Torti Guitarist

Biography

Monica Torti is a passionate and talented Swiss guitarist, known for her highly expressive and musical playing. After exploring various instruments, she dedicated herself to classical guitar in 2015 and obtained her certificate with Honors from the Conservatory of Lausanne in 2018 (prof. Renaud Renquin). She then continued her studies at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne - HEMU, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2022 and a Master's degree in instrumental pedagogy in 2024 (prof. George Vassilev). Currently, Monica is doing a second Master in the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands (prof. Enno Voorhorst). In parallel, she participates in numerous masterclasses with internationally renowned guitarists such as Judicaël Perroy, Zoran Dukic, Aniello Desiderio, Thibaut Garcia, Marco Tamayo, Gabriel Bianco, Tali Roth, and others.

Monica Torti has won numerous awards in international competitions, particularly in Switzerland and Italy, as well as prestigious prizes such as the Fritz Bach Prize in 2024, the Seicorde in 2023, the Auditech SA Prize in 2022, and the Paderewski Prize in 2016.

As a soloist, she has been invited to perform in Switzerland, France, and Italy. She has appeared at many renowned festivals, including the Rencontres Guitares Bulle, the 6 Cordes au Fil de l’Allier Festival, the Nendaz International Guitar Festival, the Pully Musical Weekend, and others. She has also performed as a soloist with several ensembles, such as Villa-Lobos’ Concerto with the Lausanne Conservatory Orchestra and Boccherini’s Quintet with the Bazzini Quartet in Brescia, Italy.

Monica regularly performs with the Duo Akisson and various chamber music ensembles, sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Thibault Cauvin and Johan Smith.

Always in search of new musical experiences, Monica incorporates a looper pedal into her recitals. She has created “Identité, classical guitar and looper pedal,” a unique recital blending compositions and arrangements of various styles.

In parallel with her artistic career, Monica pursues pedagogical activities. She has worked in several institutions, including giving masterclasses at the MIGS Academy and teaching at the Conservatoire de l’Ouest Vaudois and many other music schools.
